Special edition candles housed in blown glass vessels, crafted with love and expertise in Tonalá.

Tonalá, a municipality in Guadalajara, Jalisco, derives its name from the Nahuatl word Tonallan, meaning “where the sun rises.” This vibrant area has been a beacon of artisanal traditions since ancient times, founded by indigenous Zapotec, Nahuatl, and Toltec peoples. Their rich heritage blended with the techniques introduced by Spanish colonisers, including blown glass—vidrio soplado.

Each vessel begins its journey with melted recycled glass heated to fiery temperatures, reaching up to 1600°C. The process, entirely manual, is a testament to generations of skill and creativity.

This collaboration celebrates not only the timeless artistry of Tonalá but also Rivière Noire’s commitment to sustainability and cultural heritage. Each vessel is more than a container—it’s a story of craftsmanship, tradition, and care for our planet.
